Carlo Forcolini is a great Italian designer from the 20th Century. He is renowned for the structural and functional pieces of furniture he designed.
During his prolific career, he created more than a hundred pieces (furniture, watch, objects etc.) inspired by literature, cinema and art. He worked with great manufacturers such as Amar, Artemide, Cassina but also Alias. The Miro chair is one of his most famous pieces of furniture. Biography Carlo Forcolini was born in 1947 in Italy. He studied fine arts at the Academy of Brera in Milan. In 1969, he participated to the foundation of Alias, Oylight and Nema as a designer and manager. He left his country in 1978 to set up in London until 1984. He founded Alias UK then he became the director of Great Britain Artemide. During the 80s, Forcolini participated in several exhibitions around the world (Tokyo, Sidney, Oslo etc.). He organized meetings like in Toronto but also seminars in great schools. He is the coordinator of the Forcolini Lab creative workshop since 1999 but also the Vice-President of the European Institute of Design since 2012. Several of his pieces are part of beautiful collections such as in the Decorative Arts Museum in Paris.
