Berthold MULLER-OERLINGHAUSEN

He studied architecture at Berlin's Technical University, graduating in 1959. After completing his studies, he worked briefly in an architectural practice before concentrating fully on industrial design.

During the 1960s, Muller-Oerlinghausen began to make a name for himself in the design field, working on a number of major projects. He was known for his functionalist, minimalist approach, with its emphasis on simplicity and efficiency.

One of his most notable creations is the famous "B25" armchair, designed in 1963. This armchair was characterized by its clean lines and use of modern materials such as steel and leather. It became a symbol of modern design and earned Muller-Oerlinghausen international recognition.

Throughout his career, Muller-Oerlinghausen worked with many leading design and furniture brands, including Knoll, Vitra and Herman Miller. He designed a range of products from chairs and tables to lighting and accessories.

His design vision focused on the harmony between form and function, creating objects that were both aesthetically pleasing and practical. He was also influenced by the Scandinavian design movement and incorporated elements of simplicity and sustainability into his creations.

Berthold Muller-Oerlinghausen died on November 5, 2018 at the age of 82. His legacy lives on through his timeless designs, which continue to be appreciated.
