Fribyter

Ake FRIBYTER

During the 1950s and 1960s, Fribyter worked for the industrial design company Design AB, where he designed products for companies such as Fiskars, Electrolux and Ericsson. He was also an active member of the Swedish functional design movement, which advocated simplicity and functionality in product design.

Throughout his career, Fribyter worked in a wide variety of fields, from furniture and appliance design to boat, aircraft and train design. He won numerous awards for his work, including the Lunning Prize in 1955 and the Prince Eugen Medal in 1981.

Today, Åke Fribyter's designs are often considered classics of Swedish design, characterized by their simplicity, functionality and timeless elegance.
