Marcello Cuneo is an Italian architect and designer. Thanks to many pieces of furniture he designed during the 1960s and the 1970s, he obtained international recognition.
During his career, he collaborated with great manufacturers such as Arflex, Cassina and La Linea. He is the designer of mythic pieces of furniture including the Longobarda lamp (1966), the Luisa folding chairs (1970) and the Mac armchair (1976). These timeless pieces are always appreciated by lovers of design. Biography Marcello Cuneo was born in Italy in 1933. He studied painting, pottery and architecture. During the 60s, he met Lino Saltini and Gio Ponti with whom he worked around several architectural projects. Cuneo decided in 1971 to work as a freelance and to vary his projects by designing furniture. During his life, he won several distinctions including honorable mentions at the Compasso d’Oro in 1979 and the A.Palladio and Guten Industrieform prizes. He is called to be a jury member of the Faenza prize in 1974 thanks to his expertise. His work has been exhibited many times during prestigious exhibition including “Italy: the new Domestic Landscape” at the Museum of Modern Art de New-York.
