Piero Fornasetti is a designer, a painter, a graphic artist but also a sculptor. He is one of the most prolific artists from the 20th Century: he created more than 11 000 creations.
He used several themes, materials and technical means to offer a variety of ideas and original creations. His imaginary and eccentric world is reproduced with no limit: engraving, glassware, porcelain, fabric… The Themes and Variations series which stages a woman face is presented in 500 versions. Biography Piero Fornasetti was born in 1913 in Italy. He began his studies at the Academy of Beaux-Arts in Brera but he was fired for indiscipline at this age of 19. In 1933, for the fifth Triennial in Milan, he exhibited his first creations. The famous designer Gio Ponti was quickly seduced by the work of the young artist. Beautiful pieces have emerged from their collaboration such as the almanac series and the Architettura furniture line (1951). His creations convey magic and madness; they seduce both the passionate person of art and design and the general public. The signs of the zodiac, the fish, the flowers, the masks… All these subjects have allowed to Fornasetti to take us in his extraordinary world.
