Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup are Danish designers. They worked together during the majority of their career. They are representatives of the Scandinavian design.
They were just students when they designed in 1968 their first series of suspensions named SM. These lamps are very elegant thanks to sober curves and purified lines. The students surprised by their innovative vision and seduced the world of design. Biography Bonderup and Thorup were born in 1943 and 1944 in Denmark. They met each other during their studies at the School of architecture. Bonderup moved up to Brazil to work with the architect Segio Bernard. Few years later, he came back to Denmark and began working with the Torsten Thorup firm founded in 1968. This agency is considered as one of the most prestigious in Denmark. Throughout their career, they won several distinctions including the first prize at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture competition. Together, they designed lots of Scandinavian clocks and lamps. Two of their creations are exhibited at the MoMa in New-York.
