Seth THOMAS

From an early age, Seth Thomas showed a keen interest and aptitude for clock mechanisms. At the age of 21, he founded his own company, Seth Thomas Clock Company, in 1807 in Plymouth Hollow (now Thomaston), Connecticut. At first, he concentrated on manufacturing clock movements for other companies, but eventually began producing his own clocks.

Seth Thomas was known for his ability to innovate and improve clock mechanisms. He introduced several innovations to the clock industry, including the concept of the "repeating clock", which enabled the clock to strike the hour on demand. His clocks were also appreciated for their accuracy and reliability.

Over the years, Seth Thomas' company prospered and became one of the leading clock manufacturers in the USA. The company also expanded its product range to include pocket watches and wall clocks, all made with the same dedication to quality and innovation.

Seth Thomas died on January 29, 1859, but his legacy in the clock industry lives on. The Seth Thomas Clock Company continued to operate after his death, and has been acquired by other companies over the years. Clocks bearing the Seth Thomas name remain highly sought-after by collectors and are considered to be timepieces of great value and quality.
