Theo Ruth is a talented Dutch designer. He is the first designer who worked for the famous Artifort manufacturer. He is responsible for the success of the brand around the world.
During his career, Ruth designed several pieces of furniture such as the Congo cair (1952) and the Penguin chair (1957). Their design is remarkable: there are both made without screws! In fact, the pieces are just interlocked, this is a real revolution! Biography Theo Ruth was born in the Netherlands in 1915. He studied at the Academy of Arts in Maastricht. He quickly became interested in design. In 1936, the young designer joined Artifort and dedicated his work to living room furniture. As a talented designer, he became the director of design 1939, until his death in 1971. Thank to his job among Artifort, Ruth met famous designers such as Pierre Paulin and Geoffroy Harcourt. He deeply marked his period and he is still one of greatest designers from the 20th Century.
