Max Bill is a Swiss designer. He is a form and concrete art theoretician. He is also renowned for having exercised different professions: designer, architect, graphic designer and also politician.
His creations are composed by geometric forms. In his point of view, all the creations have to respect the mathematical laws. He is the designer of mythic pieces of furniture, including the Quadratrundtisch table (1949), the Dreibeinstuhl chair and his collection of clocks. Biography Max Bill was born in Switzerland in 1908. He studied goldsmithery at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich until 1927. During a conference by Le Corbusier, he realized his interest for architecture and continued his studies at Bauhaus in Dessau until 1929. He organized the same year his first exhibition. Quickly, he focused on the importance of the materials used. In 1933, he became one of the members of the Abstraction-Creation group. They want to promote abstract art by opposition to the surrealist movement. At the end of the 30s, he became one of the ambassadors of concrete art and of sciences and mathematical in art. Max Bill is one of the famous artist and designers of the 20th Century.
