Luciano Bertoncini is an Italian designer. He is renowned for his discretion and his simplicity. He has contributed to the expansion of the Italian modernist movement.
The lines and the curves of his creations are sober, uncluttered and really elegant. The pieces of furniture created are really modern and timeless. His variety of tables and storage units are perfect example of the style he likes. Biography Bertoncini was born in 1939 in Italy. He studied drawing then he worked with the architect Vittorio Rossi. They both worked for design and building project. At this period, he designed the Zattera bed which became a mythic piece of furniture. His work is quickly renowned by the design world, including through his collaboration with Joe Colombo. In 1971, some of his creations have been exhibited at the MoMa in New-York during the exhibition “Italy: The New Domestic Landscape”. He won the same year the second prize in the competition Abet Print thanks to the Gronda coat rack. He is subsequently contacted by Aprilia to design the Tuaref Wind motorbike, model which has been selected for the Compasso d’Oro competition. Bertoncini is one of the great Italian designers.
