Rispal furniture is a company created in 1924 by Georges Léon Rispal. Rispal is a well-known for his work on lightings with organic forms during the 50s.
Rispal lightings were not created by Jean Rispal, who never existed, but by the style bureau of the company. Known for his biomorphic (or organic design), Rispal used sapelli wood for drawing fluid and graceful curves and pleated paper (it is actually cellulose acetate). Rispal creations have entered the history of international design, including its religious Mantis floor lamp now considered one of the most beautiful creations of 1950s French lightings.
