About this vintage design furniture
A pair of orange "Pastil" chairs from the first edition, designed by Eero Aarnio in 1967. The following year, he received the American Industrial Design Award. The New York Times wrote about the Ball Chair and the Pastil Chair at that time: "the most comfortable shapes to support the human body".To quote Eero Aarnio: "The Pastil shape can be looked at from many angles, the shape of the product comes from a small candy, pastil, but in this case, the idea was that a lot of empty space and padded is sent to the other side. of the world inside the Ball Chair. A new round chair would fit in that space, so the diameter of the Pastil is the same as the opening of the Ball Chair. I made the first prototype in polystyrene which allowed me to check the measurements, ergonomics and tilting. They both remain in good original vintage condition. Some wear and tear such as scratches can be found, which is normal for its age.
