About this vintage design furniture

Large mid-century modern sommerso glass vase designed by Flavio Poli for Alessandro Mandruzzato (Murano, Italy, 1960s). The vase is made of thick navy blue and transparent glass. Beautifully faceted glass. It is extremely decorative. Mandruzzato is well-known for producing exceptional geometric and cubic-shaped art glass pieces. Height: 22 cm; width (at base): 5.5 cm; depth (largest point): 5.5 cm. Very good vintage condition. One tiny flea bite. "Sommerso" is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which was very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer.
