About this vintage design furniture

Mid Century Modern sommerso art glass vase designed by Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta (Sweden, 1950s/60s). This beautiful vase is made of thick yellow and blue glass surrounded by clear glass. It is extremely decorative. The base is incised with "Kosta 46451" and Vicke Lindstrand's signature (see pictures). Later engraving: "Minne fran Ahlen Holm". Height: 21 cm; width: 11 cm; depth: 8 cm. Quite heavy (weight: 2.5 kg). Excellent vintage condition. "Sommerso" (Italian for ''submerged'') is a technique developed in Murano which became very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer. Reference : 265276
