About this vintage design furniture

This modernist chair was produced by the Swedish manufacturer Dux, Ljungs Industrier during the 1960s. This model has a market name Ribbon Back, due to its characteristic shape of the backrest, resembling a ribbon. The frame is made of teak wood in a dark shade of brown. It is an excellent design with an extremely comfortable, curved backrest that perfectly adheres to the body. The seat and backrest are upholstered in an original salmon pink fabric from the 60s era. It is a well-thought-out design of piece of furniture. It will be perfect for the dining room as well as in the office or living room, and its form fits both modern and classic interiors. Dux Manufactory was founded in 1926 by Efraim Ljung. Previously, he was a chocolate manufacturer, but fascinated by the comfortable mattress on which he slept in a hotel in Chicago, he decided to start the production of mattresses in Malmö. The company gained international recognition when in 1953 Folke Ohlsson went to the United States and founded Dux Incorporated as the American version of his Swedish namesake - at the time the largest manufacturer of upholstered furniture in Scandinavia. Under Ohlsson's design leadership, Dux Inc. quickly gained considerable influence in the US. Slender walnut and teak frames and low-slung seats are the brand's designs that were a symbol of the generation of Scandinavian modernism. Dux has partnered with many leading designers, including Bruno Mathsson, Edward Wormley and Alf Svensson. In 1949, the DUX company implemented an idea that Ohlsson patented. Knock-down chair or KD, a term referring to easy flat assembly. This saved DUX space in warehouses and money for transport, and was a concept that became an inspiration for hundreds of other companies - primarily the Swedish brand IKEA. The chair is in original vintage condition. It has minor traces of age, scratches, patina on the wood. The seat is at a height of 46 cm. Reference : 262914
