About this vintage design furniture

Set of 2 chairs/armchairs 210 P, design Gebrüder Thonet, for Ligna, Czechoslovakia, circa 1960s. The design and inspiration for this model comes from the iconic 209 "Le Corbusier" chair, but has a back. It had a caned or upholstered finish. The brand Ligna, is derived from the nationalization of several Thonet factories, after World War II. The structures are made of curved beech. Both chairs have their original green textured fabric on the backs and seats. Each chair also has its original rattan cane/webbing under the upholstery, which is in perfect condition with no wear (see photos.) The chairs are sold "as is". One can choose to reupholster or update the original upholstery, decide to keep "as is" or remove the fabric, in order to highlight the rattan strap/seat (see photos). The wooden structures are in very good, original and period condition, with slight marks and signs of age and previous use commensurate with the time (see photos. Some areas of faded finish throughout the structures, as well as the patina of age and time (see photos.) Note: one upholstery nail is missing from the bottom right of the back of one of the chairs (see photos.) They have only been gently cleaned and polished from their original patina. Both chairs are solid and have the manufacturers marks and country of origin on the underside of the seats (see photos.) We have a third similar chair of the same color and finish for sale, listed separately on this site. (Please inquire if you are interested). Reference : 248874
