About this vintage design furniture

Cees Braakman designed a minimalist desk in the 1960s for UMS Pastoe (Netherlands). This desk, from the so-called Japanese series, has four black plastic knobs on the right drawer unit and four "dustproof" drawers made of curved plywood. The left drawer unit has a large drawer for filing (or a secret stash of fine wine) and a smaller "dust proof" drawer. Each drawer unit can be locked. To access the other drawers, the top drawer must first be unlocked and opened. The top of this Japanese Series desk is floating, and the desk can stand alone in the room thanks to the exquisite teak veneer on the back. The Japanese series is another name for this furniture with a simple, clean design. Reference : 247282
