Vintage solid hard wood trunk chest by Victoria Hunt and Roskell

Teak Chest of Drawers A Victoria Hunt And Roskell Antique Solid Hard Wood Trunk / Chest This trunk is a beautiful piece of antique furniture that dates between 1843 and 1851 and is for sale. The chest features a strap lock with a keyhole and is secured by metal strapping on each side of the beautiful stained timber carcass that makes up the chest. Historians can trace the famous Hunt and Roskell company back to 1819, and the renowned silversmith Paul Storr most likely created the chest design. The company participated in several international exhibitions, including the Great Exhibition in 1851 at the Crystal Palace in London's Hyde Park, where it won Queen Victoria's royal warrant. The trunk provides its provenance through a brass plaque that reads, "Hunt and Roskell, late Store and Mortimer, Goldsmith, and Silversmith to the Queen," along with the address of 136 New Bond Street in London. The lock is an excellent example of a Barrons lock and features the crown and VR (for Queen Victoria) underneath. The chest has numerous attractive labels adding historic details about the previous owners and the locations to which it has travelled.
