Vintage aluminum lamp by Ettore Sottsass for Rinnovel, Italy 1950s

Anodized aluminum television lamp made in Italy in the 1950s. This type of lamp was used over black and white television sets to reduce eye strain, as television was often watched with the lights off. This type of lamp was used to reduce the contrast between the darkness and the lighting given by the television. Today, the recommended use is as a bedside lamp.
