About this vintage design furniture
Silver plated over stainless steel this sculpture hads been designed in the 1970s by Gio Ponti and made by silversmith Lino Sabatini for the Christofle company in France. The artwork also has been published by picture in the Gio Ponti Book- Ugo La Pietra Rizzoli, 1995. Pp-390. Giovanni (Gio) Ponti (1891-1979) was a well known italian architect in a very wide reach of design. Lot of beautiful furniture has been designed by Gio, but als artwork, glass for the Venini glass company and also buildings like the Pirelli building in Milano. This Cavallo (horse in italian) sculpture is dated 1975. Very beautiful object. And for furniture collectioneers this is an extra desirable piece of art matching architectural design in the widest possible way.

About the designer
Gio PONTI
1891 - 1979Gio Ponti (1891-1979) was an Italian designer, architect, writer and teacher, considered one of the most influential designers of 20th-century Italy. Born in Milan, he studied architecture at Milan Polytechnic University and began working as an architect in 1921.
