About this vintage design furniture
Large labelled mid-century Murano sommerso diamond-shaped ashtray vide poche designed by Flavio Poli and produced by Seguso (Murano, Italy) in 1960s. Made of thick glass. Colours: red, light blue, yellow and clear. It is extremely decorative. Can be used as a display piece on any table. Original label slightly worn but still intact (it can be removed very easily if needed). "Sommerso" (Italian for ’’submerged’’) is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer. The ashtray is quite heavy (1.1 kg). Dimensions: length: 13 cm; width: 13 cm; height: 8.5 cm. It is in perfect condition.

Flavio POLI
Flavio Poli (1900-1984) was a renowned Italian designer, known for his work in glass. Born in Chioggia, near Venice, Poli studied at the Institute of Applied Arts in Venice, where he developed a passion for blown glass.
