About this vintage design furniture
Large Midcentury Bowl from the Baca Series by Nils Thorsson for AluminiaThis highly detailed ceramic bowl is part of the BACA series by Aluminia for Royal Copenhagen, designed by Nils Thorsson (1898-1975) and produced in the 1960s. This particular bowl is quite rare. It is made of stoneware and has been decorated with Thorsson's intricate and highly detailed relief pattern in a beautiful yellow tone that contrasts beautifully with the dark gray tones of the rest of the bowl. The BACA series, with its characteristically bold, abstract patterns designed by various artists under the direction of Nils Thorsson, is considered by many to be the quintessential example of mid-century modernism in ceramics. The bowl is stamped with Nils Thorsson's signature stamp and a blue Alulminia mark that was later acquired by Royal Copenhagen.
