About this vintage design furniture
Beautiful Murano sommerso rectangular ashtray or catch-all designed by Flavio Poli and manufactured by Seguso (Murano, Italy) in the 1970s. Made of thick red glass encased in orange layer and surrounded by clear glass. It quite heavy (0.9 kg). Extremely decorative. "Sommerso" (Italian for ’’submerged’’) is a technique developed in Murano which became very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer. Measurements: length: 12 cm; width: 8.5 cm; height: 5 cm. Weight: 0.9 kg. Excellent vintage condition. Barely visible manufacturing imperfections.

About the designer
Flavio POLI
Flavio Poli (1900-1984) was a renowned Italian designer, known for his work in glass. Born in Chioggia, near Venice, Poli studied at the Institute of Applied Arts in Venice, where he developed a passion for blown glass.
