About this vintage design furniture
Rare Danish easy chair with armrests designed by Ib Kofod Larsen for the Dutch company Gelderland in the 1950s. The back and seat of this mid-century ear chair is adjustable in three positions and has a wonderful seating comfort. In the 1950s, Koene Oberman (the founder of Gelderland) attracted external designers. This Danish design by Ib Kofod Larsen was produced under license at Gelderland. The condition of this armchair is very good. It has been reupholstered with fabric from De Ploeg and new foam, new girths and the teak has been re-oiled. Material: solid teak, wood, iron, foam and wool fabric from De Ploeg. Dimensions: h x w x d 103 x 76 x 80 cm. The seat height is 39 cm. This armchair is marked with the patent number 68898, which Koene Oberman had registered in 1951 at the Dutch Patentpatent office (see photo). In 1957 the patent number expired. About the designer
Kofod LARSEN
Kofod Larsen was a Danish furniture designer born in 1921 and died in 1991. He began his career as an apprentice cabinetmaker and later studied at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts. He worked for several renowned design companies in Europe before founding his own design firm in 1950.
