About this vintage design furniture

Stellar diamond faceted sommerso "Geode" bowl or catch-all by Alessandro Mandruzzato (Murano), Italy, 1970s. Honeycomb diamond faceted pattern on the exterior. Hand blown glass. Thick and extremely decorative. It is also a very large model as usually the ones offered on the market are much smaller. Colours: blue and clear. Quite heavy: c. 1.5 kg. Dimensions: diameter - 15.5 cm; height - 7.5 cm. Can be used as a display piece on any table. Very good vintage condition, some light signs of use at the bottom. "Sommerso" (Italian for ’’submerged’’) is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer.
