About this vintage design furniture

Scandinavian style vintage oval dining table with butterfly extension, by G Plan, 1960s. The piece is made of wood with a teak and afromosia veneer, showing a very nice color contrast between the warm, blond wood grain of the table top, and a rich, darker color on the ends and edges, as well as the legs (see photos.) The table is extendable. It slides open on both sides, revealing an integrated butterfly extension system that opens and closes perfectly, allowing it to go from a width of 163 cm when closed, to a width of 209 cm when open (see photos.) When closed, the table can seat 4 to 6 people, and when fully open, it can seat 6 to 8 people comfortably. The manufacturer's mark G Plan is present (see photo.) The tabletop rests on a base with a central bar and legs that end in a really cool, arched or "whale tail" design (see photos.) The table is overall, in very good, original, vintage condition, with slight signs of age, marks and previous use commensurate with the time, on the edge of the top and top (see photos with a 1 cent coin for perspective), and the legs (see photos), but nothing that affects its beauty or functionality. It has a nice original patina from time. There is a slight resistance to opening the table, which will diminish with use over time. The table is solid, stable and robust. It has only been lightly dusted and polished from the original patina. A fantastic piece of design history, with clean, elegant lines that will be a real conversation piece. - Width closed: 163 cm - Width fully open: 209 cm - Width of the butterfly leaf: 46 cm - Height: 72.5 cm - Depth: 107 cm
