About this vintage design furniture
Vintage Armchair by Michael Thonet for Jacob & Josef Kohn. Chair No. 17 (or ’’Long John’’) was designed by Thonet founder Michael Thonet around 1865. It is said that the design was based on the architecture of the Crystal Palace (destroyed by fire in 1936), where it was built in 1851. the London Great Exhibition took place, where Thonet showed his chairs. The chair has a beautiful classic look due to the curled armrests and the graceful wood. The seat is made of hand-woven rattan.
