About this vintage design furniture
This exceptional ceramic dish is an early work by Antoine de Vinck. It is glazed in an intense blue with black splash dots. It is signed and dated 1956 on the base. In excellent original condition.H: 5cm x D: 33.5cm x W: 33.5cmAntoine de Vinck, Baron (1924-1992), was a Belgian ceramist, designer and sculptor. He is considered one of the main actors of the revival of ceramic art in post-war Europe. His work includes pottery pieces such as dishes, pots, bowls, etc. as well as sculptures. Initially self-taught, he attended the workshops of ceramist Pierre Caille and sculptor Oscar Jespers in the 1950s to develop his natural talent. In 1954, he opened his own studio and traveled extensively, exploring different indigenous cultures that found expression in his work. He also spent a lot of time in France, where he met potters like Lerat, Pierlot and de Montmollin. He was a tireless advocate for potters producing high quality work and applied his standards to his own work. He exhibited extensively and his work is in many public collections.
