About this vintage design furniture
We have been researching this one and have come across several examples, some attributed to Robin Day for Hille and others to Brianco, either way we figure that it is fairly certain that it is English. Some have 7 slats others 5, and unfortunately even after looking at several period catalogues we cannot say hand on heart that it is one or the other this is the longest one we have seen and that doesnt help either Whatever it is, it’s a cool bench, ideal mfor in front of a window, end of a (big) bed, or in a hallway, a very useful good looking mid century design. The wood seems to be a variety of hardwood known as sapele, which is a timber not covered under CITES, so is no problem for importexport.
