Model Ch22 vintage armchair by Hans J. Wegner for Carl Hansen & Søn, 1950s

The CH22 Armchair was made in 1950 by famous designer Hans J. Wegner and belongs to the extensive collection of Carl Hansen & Søn. The curved organic shapes and the exceptional craftsmanship make this chair a true classic Wegner. The CH22 Armchair is closely related to the CH26 Dining Chair. Both have a good ergonomic, sturdy construction with distinctive curved armrests. For extra comfort, there is also a leather cushion. In 1908 the Dane Carl Hansen started his furniture making business. The strength of the Carl Hansen & Søn brand lies in the pride of handmade exclusive wooden furniture where craftsmanship and quality are central. After the Second World War, due to the scarcity of materials and fabrics, the demand for simple wooden furniture was greater than ever before. Around that period, architect Hans J. Wegner was one of the new and emerging designers. Driven by the same passion as Carl Hansen and his background as a carpenter, they entered into a partnership that is still very successful to this day. Carl Hansen & Søn produced, among others, the well-known Wishbone chair, designed by Wegner.
