About this vintage design furniture
Pair of large glazed earthenware amphorae. Art nouveau. Cloisonné floral design. Faïencerie de Longchamp, Burgundy.N 1370.Circa 1900---The production of the Longchamp faience factory began in 1833. In 1847 the factory employed forty-one workers. In 1964, the company had two hundred and thirty employees and produced four million pieces per year which were sold mainly in French department stores and up to fifteen percent internationally (United States and about twenty other countries).Between 1975 and the end of the eighties, takeovers followed one another and the establishment was bought in 1990 by Villeroy and Boch before closing its doors for good in 2009.
