About this vintage design furniture

Richard Hornby Sideboard British Mid Century Afromosia Teak Sideboard by Richard Hornby for Fyne Ladye in the 1960s and retailed through Heals. Superb craftsmanship throughout, carved from solid from Afrormosia with beautiful cutaway handle detail, reeded drawer fronts and the signature Hornby bevelled edge to the top. Features two large cupboards with adjustable shelves and four good sized drawers to the right-hand side. Fyne Ladye Furniture of Banbury was one of the few quality British makers to use solid woods for their pieces in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Richard Hornby was a very accomplished designer whose simple elegant clean designs were popular with well off middle-class buyers looking for modern Scandinavian style pieces at the time.

Richard HORNBY

Richard Hornby was an English furniture designer who worked in the 1960s. Born in 1930, Hornby studied at London's Royal College of Art before embarking on his career as a furniture designer. He was known for his bold, innovative designs that helped define the style of the 1960s.
