Mid-century Murano sommerso glass bowl by Flavio Poli - Italy, 1960s. "Sommerso" (Italian for ’’submerged’’) is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer. The bowl is quite heavy (1.3 kg), thick and extremely decorative. Colours: green, blue and clear. Dimensions: height: 7 cm; diameter: 16 cm. Can be used as a display piece on any table. Very good vintage condition. A few scratches.

Flavio POLI

Flavio Poli (1900-1984) was a renowned Italian designer, known for his work in glass. Born in Chioggia, near Venice, Poli studied at the Institute of Applied Arts in Venice, where he developed a passion for blown glass.
