About this vintage design furniture

Maxalto dining table, New Harmony series, by Afra e Tobia Scarpa , 1979 The New Harmony series, launched in 1979, presents a unique line by combining wood with other precious materials, such as lacquer and leather, treated with Maxalto's exclusive techniques. From the iconic pieces designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa to the new interpretation of modernism by Antonio Citterio, Maxalto has been following the evolution of high-end furniture design for over 40 years. Founded in 1975 alongside B&B Italia, Maxalto quickly developed a personal identity in the specialized production of handcrafted furniture. The brand's research into form looks to the past, with a revisitation of classic styles. Afra and Tobia Scarpa were the first interpreters of this, designing a series of wooden furniture using ancient and rare production processes, typical of cabinet making and violin making. The result was extremely striking in its sculptural effect, as illustrated by the Africa chair (Artona collection). "MASSA ALTO" The excellence of details.
