About this vintage design furniture

Rocking chair J16 by Hans Wegner for FDB. Varnished beech. Seat in braided paper rope. Model designed in 1944. Original edition from the 70's. It is said in Denmark that all children born after 1945 were rocked in a J16 chair To create his rocking chairs, Hans J. Wegner went to the source of inspiration: the Slat back chairs of the American Shakers. The Shakers, a religious community that settled in New England in the early 18th century, made their own furniture, including rocking chairs. The rocking chair is said to guide the eye to the heavens. The Shakers are said to have taken care of the beauty of their chairs so that an angel would feel invited to sit among them at any time. Backrest height: 107 cm. Seat height: 42 cm. Width : 63 cm. Depth : 93 cm.
