Vintage modernist wall coat rack, 1950-1960

Large mid-century vintage wooden wall mount coat rack with 4 large rectangular shaped coat hooks from the late 50's, early 60's. The piece is made of wood with a light walnut color. Its design and style are typical of the modernist era and very similar to other works from the Reconstruction period. The design evokes and is in the spirit of some of the architects and designers of the same period, such as Perriand, Le Corbusier, Jeanneret or Mallet-Stevens. Interestingly, this piece comes from the Dordogne region, where some of Perriand's pieces were once produced. What is really nice about this piece is that it is very large and that the maker of the piece has thought through, in terms of placement, the space of the large pegs. There are 22.5 cm between each peg, which would allow for a lot of clothes, coats, etc. to be hung. The pegs are also large, with elongated "T" bars. Each has a bar 16 cm deep and 7.5 cm high, so a number of hangers could be placed on a single hook. Please note that on the face of each coat hook there are 2 diagonal holes, where nails have been used to join the pieces and are not defects (see photos.) The bracket is overall in very good original vintage condition, with some light marks, signs of age and use commensurate with the time (see photos.) There are light signs of use and old woodworm marks on the peg tips (see photos), and a nice patina of time, is also present on the whole piece There are three holes on the long base, to allow you to fix it on a wall (screws not included.) The coat rack is very solid, stable and sturdy. A beautiful piece to hang on the wall, whether in an entrance hall, bedroom, hallway, cloakroom, etc., which would look great in a modern, contemporary or even rustic interior
