Franco Albini is an Italian architect and designer. He is renowned for his strictness, since he is one of the figures of the Italian rationalism movement.
His creations are high quality because they are directly inspired of the Italian traditional craft. He created pieces with a minimalist design and modern lines. Biography Franco Albini was born in 1905 in Italy. He studied at the Polytechnic School of Milan and graduated in architecture in 1929. At the beginning of his career, he worked with the famous Italian designer Gio Ponti. He founded in 1930 his own design and decoration agency. In 1939, he designed a radio composed by glass with an audacious style: the mechanism is visible. The transparence chocked, so the radio has never been produced. He became very successful during the 50s thanks to his work for Cassina and Poggi. In 1955, he won the Compasso d’Oro (Italian prize) for the Luisa chair.
