Girard (Alexander)

Alexander GIRARD

Girard is one of the most inspired post-war American designers and artists. As were his associates and colleagues such as George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames. His wide-ranging oeuvre focused above all on textile design. Girard designed a multitude of fabrics for Herman Miller, with many abstract shapes and multicolored geometric patterns. His inspiring creations, which are still surprisingly contemporary, are still very much in vogue today, thanks in particular to Vitra, which publishes his famous "Wooden dolls".
