About this vintage design furniture
Mid-century Murano sommerso rectangular ashtray catch-all designed by Flavio Poli and produced by Seguso (Murano, Italy) in 1970s. "Sommerso" (Italian for ’’submerged’’) is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer. The ashtray is quite heavy (0.9 kg), thick and extremely decorative. Colours: red, orange and clear. Dimensions: length: 13 cm; width: 7.5 cm; height: 5 cm. Can be used as a display piece on any table. Very good vintage condition. Two tiny flea bites. A few scratches.

About the designer
Flavio POLI
Flavio Poli (1900-1984) was a renowned Italian designer, known for his work in glass. Born in Chioggia, near Venice, Poli studied at the Institute of Applied Arts in Venice, where he developed a passion for blown glass.
