A rare German salt-glazed pottery ewer from Westerwald c1900.Richly decorated stoneware jug with a high ribbed neck and two intersecting double rings, beautifully decorated in a deep cobalt blue with heraldic images and symbols including a coat of arms, angels, flowers and leaves. Westerwald pottery is a distinctive type of gray salt-glazed pottery from the Westerwaldkreis region in the Rheinland. The salt glaze has a grayish white surface with an orange peel like texture.
