Vintage hand-woven shiraz rug, Persia 1890
About this vintage design furniture
This antique handmade Shiraz rug was made around 1890 in Persia. The rug is in traditional deep brown, red and dark blue colors with a geometric and tribal pattern. This hand-knotted rug is unique and the pattern is typical of nomads with simple geometric figure motifs. Shiraz rugs were originally made to be used inside tribal tents which are often mobile and move from place to place. It has a decorative kelims on the short sides to protect the rug from wear and tear. The warp and weft are made of wool. This rug is tight and fine (about 200,000 knots per square meter). This piece is in original antique condition with scratches.
