French cabinet with 16 compartments Early 20th century French cabinet, box or haberdashery cabinet, made of cabinetry, with two columns of eight drawers with drop fronts and metal handles that create 16 removable compartments, boxes with drawers, each with a canvas folding band for easy access. The wood veneer is embellished with a carved band and canvas drawer fronts with spaces for labels or the like. Units of this type were used in solicitors' offices, police stations, offices and in the stores of high end department stores such as Heals or Harrods.
