About this vintage design furniture

The Siesta footstool has been specially designed to be combined with one of the Westnof Siesta chairs designed by Ingmar Relling. In this Norwegian Ottoman style footstool, the leather cushion rests on a durable canvas. The canvas provides enough support to offer incredible comfort and support. The canvas is attached to the wooden frame in a unique way using a specialized rope. The frame is made from bent and laminated beech wood from sustainable forests. Relling is passionate about creating ergonomic and environmentally friendly furniture, ensuring that their pieces are made in a way that can be repaired. Interestingly, U.S. President Jimmy Carter purchased sixteen Siesta chairs to furnish the White House during his term. In 1992, Siesta received the Classic Award for Design Excellence from the Norwegian Design Council. Today, the chair is produced by the Norwegian furniture manufacturer LK Hjelle. It is considered a classic of Scandinavian design and an icon of Norwegian design.
