Anton Lorenz

Lorenz is best known for his contributions to furniture design in tubular steel, which was a relatively new material at the time. He worked with manufacturers such as Thonet and Mundus to produce functional, elegant furniture on a large scale.

In the 1920s and 1930s, Lorenz was an active member of the modern design movement, participating in exhibitions and conferences on industrial design and mass production. He also worked with famous architects such as Le Corbusier, Walter Gropius and Mies van der Rohe to produce furniture for their iconic buildings.

After the Second World War, Lorenz worked as a design consultant for companies such as Philips and Olivetti, helping to develop modern electronic products. He also taught design at Salzburg University until his death in 1964.
