About this vintage design furniture

A beautiful pair of rare lounge chairs attributed to Frits Schlegel, made in Denmark, circa 1940s. Upholstered in exclusive high-quality bouclé fabric by DEDAR in white- beige contrasting dark wooden legs. Both chairs come in excellent condition. An example of early Danish modernism. Schlegel plays with the round form in a way that draws parallels to works such as the egg chair that Jean Royere designed a decade later. Frits Schlegel was a Danish modernist architect active during the same era as Flemming and Mogens Lassen, Philip Arctander, Viggo Boesen.

About the designer

Frits SCHLEGEL

Frits Schlegel (1896-1965) was a Danish designer known for his work in the 1930s and 1940s, which contributed to the creation of the Danish modern style. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and worked in the studio of Kaare Klint, one of the most famous Danish designers of the time. Schlegel then set up his own workshop in 1926 and began producing furniture in collaboration with other leading designers.
