About this vintage design furniture

We finally have a set in our collection Warren Platner's coveted chairs were designed in 1966 for Knoll. This model is called Platner Side Chair. Description The design of this series is characterized by the repetition of vertical steel wires that together create a phenomenal look. Platner produced a collection of furniture that has become an enduring icon of 1960s modernism. Production was complicated. The sculptural bases were made from hundreds of rods, and some chairs required more than 1,000 welds. An intricate cylindrical steel base, creating a unique architectural interplay between indoor and outdoor space, supported the upholstered seat. The collection has been in continuous production since its launch, highlighting the growing interest of collectors in mid-century modern design. He is also famous for designing several prominent interiors in New York, including the Ford Foundation headquarters and the original Windows on the World restaurant atop the World Trade Center.
