Vintage rattan wicker pouffe by Gian Franco Legler Switzerland 1951

This Legler pouffe is in good condition, the legs of the chair have a slight patina. The surface of the rattan has some small defects. The perfect complement to a Legler chair. The Swiss-Italian designer Gian Franco Legler designed the Basket chair for the Italian restaurant The Basket in 1951. Legler commissioned local basket makers and locksmiths to make the chairs. The Basket Chair quickly became a success, not only in Italy and Switzerland, but also in Germany and the United States. In 1953, Gian Franco Legler received the Good Design Award from the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) in New York for these chairs.
