About this vintage design furniture
The Wassily Chair is a significant piece of mid-century design. The chair, also known as the Model B3 chair, was designed by Marcel Breuer in 1925-1926 while he was active at the Bauhaus school in Germany. Breuer was impressed by the strength and lightness of his bicycle, a result of its tubular steel construction. This seemingly indestructible material inspired the Wassily chair. This choice of material made the chair revolutionary. The original thick fabric has a stunning and interesting patina that matches the design perfectly. The Wassily chair was originally produced by Thonet, then the license was transferred to Gavina, Italy, who produced the chairs until 1968. Today, the chair is still produced by Knoll. This model dates back to the Gavina production period and is therefore from the 1960s. The chairs have a tubular steel frame and thick fabric upholstery. They are in good condition and have acquired a nice patina over the years.
