Ingmar Relling (1920 - 2002)

Ingmar Relling is a great Danish designer from the 20th Century. He is famous for the design of pieces of furniture with a functional style.

The creations of the designer are characterized by their simplicity, minimalism, elegance and high quality. The Siesta chair (1965) quickly became an icon of design thanks to its details, harmony and robustness.


Biography

Ingmar Relling is a designer born in 1920 in Norway. He studied architecture and design at the SKHS School in Oslo. Then, he went to the design society named Rastard & Relling AS. In 1950, he founded his own studio then, at the beginning of the 1960s, he dedicated his work to furniture design. He met with great success in 1965 with the creation of the Siesta chair. He became one of the greatest Scandinavian designers in the world. Nowadays, lovers of design are really interested in Ingmar Relling’s work.
