About this vintage design furniture

This modernist relief was designed by Svend Åage Jensen for the Danish factory Søholm in the 1960s. Number 3509. Made of brown and green glazed stoneware. Svend Åage Jensen (1918-80) was an expert in enameling. At the age of 14 he began studying ceramics, and over the years he developed his skills in the potter's wheel and glass technique. He developed many projects for Søholm, where he worked from 1944 until his death. He is known for various items made with the Sgrafitto technique and the brilliant glaze. Søholm is the oldest pottery factory on Bornholm, the Danish island. It was founded in 1835 in Rønne by Herman Sonne Wolffsen and Edvard Christian Sonne. During its existence, the factory produced many iconic and highly sought after objects. It closed in 1996 after 161 years of operation. Most of Søholm's pottery after 1960 was made of stoneware, or stentøj in Danish. The word was inscribed or stamped on the object. This relief is in its original state. It has a hook to attach it to the wall.
